Why we should receive the grant:
Talofa lava and greetings, My name is Willie Uili and I am writing to apply for some assistance for cricket gear for myself and my family. I have currently entered the Suburbs New Lynn T20 social 'Brown caps' team since only playing proper competition cricket since primary, intermediate and early high school days. I am currently 33 years old and very passionate about cricket since I was kid playing backyard cricket with my mum and dad. I haven't owned my own bat or cricket equipment (helmet, pads, gloves etc) ever as we could never afford them when i was younger. I see how important it is nowadays to have your own kit to train in at the nets and bring to game days as its a bit embarrassing having to borrow team mates equipment. I have a younger brother (24years old) and two young nephews who are aged 8 that i am teaching them cricket in the backyard for bowling and batting. I want them to experience cricket at a young age that i did when I playing for primary school, I was the only samoan kid to play cricket in our primary/intermediate school A team :-) I want my twin nephews to have a passion for cricket at that young age that every kiwi (samoan) kid has and have the opportunity to have their own cricket equipment. I will be enrolling them at Suburbs New Lynn also, so that they start at a young age and hopefully one day have the talent to become Black caps. We are also very passionate about Samoan kilikiti (cricket) which we hope to try and use in our club cricket scene especially in T20 Cricket. Therefore, my application for the ANZ cricket world to is humbly as for any assistance they may provide for me and my family with any cricket equipment that will help us enjoy another summer of cricket this new 2017-2018 season. Thank you for your consideration and your time. Yours Sincerely, Willie Uili and the Uili family.
